YOUth Review – The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

If yes is no and once is never how many sides does a triangle have?

In The Inheritance Games, Avery Grambs is mysteriously sent a multi-billion dollar inheritance by a man she has never met. The catch? She must live in the riddle and puzzle-filled Hawthorne House for a year to receive that money, with the four grandsons who spent their lives thinking they were the ones the money was going to go to. Now, Avery has to survive in the Hawthorne House, discovering why she was sent the money, and if she is the final clue.

This is my favourite book I’ve read to date. I have never read a real mystery book with so many plot twists, and I wanted to keep reading to see what happens next. Something that I really liked was the short chapters– and the fact that every chapter ends on a cliff-hanger, keeping the reading exciting. I also really liked the aura that the book gives, which is a dark academia, luxurious and sophisticated feel. I also read that it will be made into a TV series sometime soon, so that is exciting. I highly recommend this book no matter what genre you like, because it has a little of everything!
