Don’t Make Me Weed This!

Weeding the collection is one of the harsh realities of library life. It’s inevitable: when we add new books, something else has to go. Making those decisions is a complex process with many different factors, but in this episode we are talking about just one: circulation. When did this book last get checked out? If it’s been a few years, it gets tough to justify a book’s place on the shelf. I’m working on TBPL’s Young Adult collection right now, and the following titles are ones that haven’t circulated since 2019. They are also ones that I personally recommend and think deserve another chance! Whether they’re held back by poor covers, being part of a trend and getting lost in the shuffle, or just plain bad luck, any of these reads are worth picking up.
