YOUth Review: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Book Cover

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before follows Lara Jean, a high school girl who writes love letters to all her crushes and keeps them in a special hat box her mom gave her before she passed away. The letters are never supposed to leave that box, but one day they mysteriously get sent out and now Lara Jean has to deal with the consequences and embarrassment of all of the boys receiving them.

This book contains a great story that was interesting to read. The characters are likable and all have their own unique personalities, which keep the story easy and exciting to read. I found that the author didn’t make me bored by adding not-important details like some books tend to have, and she only keeps the important parts of the plot in. This was great when I wanted to know what was going to happen in the next event or situation, because I didn’t have to wait a long time.

I would say that if you like books that slowly develop and don’t speed through the in-betweens, this wouldn’t be the best choice.  Although, because it is the first book of the trilogy, the story isn’t necessarily over so quickly and there is still more to happen.

I enjoyed this book a lot and I’m excited to read the next two. There is also a movie for each book which is also something to check out. Overall, this book was an enjoyable read that I would recommend to anybody who likes a more fast-paced romance book, with a couple surprises along the way.
