Winter and the holiday season often find families reviving traditions from years past. For those that celebrate Christmas, there are tons of fun stories to read with the little ones in your life. Grab a book and create your own tradition!
The 12 Sleighs of Christmas by Sherri Duskey Rinker is a delightful take on the classic 12 Days of Christmas. A bit of a disaster, plenty of imaginative problem solving, and some transportation-loving elves combine in this silly read-aloud.
Another option is The 12 Days of Christmas adapted by Jane Cabrera. Fans of Cabrera will 
appreciate her adorably sweet characters, and children are sure to enjoy singing along. From a party in a pear tree, to the 8 elves a-baking, Cabrera’s Christmas tale may become your new favourite!
If you’ve enjoyed any of Doreen Cronin’s wacky stories, you’ll want to add Click, Clack, Ho! Ho! Ho! to your holiday rotation. Farmer Brown is getting ready for Christmas, but of course things don’t go smoothly. Duck gets himself into a situation! Can any of his animal friends come to the rescue in time? Pick up the book to find out!
Merry Christmas, Stinky Face by Lisa McCourt is a lovely addition to her Stinky Face collection. Like many children, the main character in this series is full of ‘what ifs’ and ‘but mamas.’ Thankfully, this mama always has an answer for her little one!
If you’re looking for something brand new to the Library, If You Ever Want to Bring a Pirate to Meet Santa, Don’t! by Elise Parsley is for you! Main character Magnolia is determined to get a feisty pirate off of Santa’s naughty list, but it won’t be easy! Full of laughs, this is a perfect snuggle story on a winter afternoon.
Consider adding one of the Library’s many holiday stories to your holiday routines.
