“Timekeeper” by Tara Sim was the best book I read in 2017!
“TimeKeeper” is the first book in a three part series. The novel addresses topics such as sexism, homophobia and racism in an interesting and creative way. You will meet characters who are so much more then they appear to be. Tara has created a wonderful world of magic and science that you will find yourself falling in to.
Timekeeper takes place in Victorian England where clock towers control time and, if tampered with, can cause time to skip, slow or stop completely, leaving a whole town trapped. Danny Hart, the main character, is a clock mechanic who struggles with his anxiety after one of the clock towers he was working on had been attacked. Danny narrowly escaped certain death and is left permanently scarred. With no suspects or leads, Danny and the rest of London worry about another attack. Determined not to let his anxiety stop him from doing what he loves, Danny takes a job in a small town. There he meets Colton, a fun and happy person, who may hold the key to why clock towers are being attacked. Danny and Colton must fight against time and anyone who tampers with it.
This book will keep you guessing and will pull at your heartstrings. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good action/fantasy novel with a side of romance with a twist. You won’t be able to put this book down! If you like this one try out the second book to this series “Chainbreaker” or “The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” by Mackenzi Lee .
