I’ve been a big fan of Sandra Dallas ever since I read “The Persian Pickle Club” (thanks Cathy H. for that recommendation). Her latest work is my kind of book. It revolves around the friendship of two women – 86 year old Hennie Comfort and 17 year old Nit Spindle. Although I’m nowhere near 17 I can relate to being good friends with women in their eighties. I have 2 of them. This book takes place in an isolated mining town in the Colorado Rockies, during the Depression. Hennie sees herself in Nit and takes her under her wing. Nit is newly married and has just moved to Middle Swan. They meet to quilt and chat and find they have more in common than you would think. Set in a time of great hardships it is a wonderful story of the joys of friendship and proves friendship knows no bounds when it comes to age. Karenpiglet
