The Godwulf Manucript is the first Spencer novel created by author Robert B. Parker. For those of you unfamiliar with this very unique private eye that has been solving difficult cases since the 1970’s, Spencer is the ultimate man’s man. Ex-boxer turned private eye Spencer has an easy going way about him as he works his way through cases with hilarious one-liners, a great taste for all types of beers and fantastic cooking tips. Parker’s style of writing is fast paced and character driven. After reading the Godwulf Manuscript, I found myself burning through all books in the series (Parker just published his latest Spencer novel this year). While you do not have to start at the beginning of the series to enjoy Parker’s works, it helps as the reader can truly appreciate the character and story of Spencer mature and develop. In this particular story (taking place in the 70’s), Spencer finds himself searching for A stolen prized manuscript from a prestigious Boston university. Not all is as straightforward as it seems as Spencer delves deeper into the mystery. Enjoy. Derek
